Roma vs Inter

Picks

  1. Roma Over 1.5 Team Goals @ 2.07

For Roma vs Inter, my preferred higher-odds angle is Roma Over 1.5 Team Goals @ 2.07. Inter have the stronger squad on paper, but current form and the defensive numbers make this match much closer than the squad values suggest. Roma have started perfectly with 12 points and a 12-1 goal difference, while Inter also have 12 points but have already conceded 6 goals.

Roma’s results have been excellent: 4-0 against Fiorentina, 4-0 against Lecce, 2-1 against Atalanta and 2-0 against Torino. Twelve goals in four matches show how quickly Gasperini’s attacking system has developed. The attack is not dependent on one player. Dybala, Soulé and Malen offer different qualities, while Koné and Cristante support the structure from midfield.

Inter’s defensive profile is particularly important for this bet. Chivu’s side have scored 13 goals in four league matches, so their attack is extremely productive, but they have also conceded 6. They beat Napoli 3-2 and Udinese 5-3, meaning they allowed five goals across those two matches. This is not an Inter defense currently shutting down every strong opponent.

Çalhanoğlu’s absence makes the matchup even more interesting. He is important not only for set pieces and passing quality but also for the first phase of buildup and overall midfield organization. Zielinski is technically excellent, but he is a different profile. Gasperini’s aggressive man-oriented structure can attack this area through Koné and Cristante, while Dybala and Soulé look for space behind Inter’s midfield.

Malen’s pace can be Roma’s most dangerous attacking weapon. Inter had problems against balls played behind their defensive line against Udinese, and Malen is exactly the type of forward who can attack those spaces. If Dybala or Soulé receive between the lines, Malen’s runs can constantly force Bisseck, Akanji and Bastoni into difficult decisions.

Dybala’s current creative output is another major factor. He already has four assists, making him a central part of Roma’s chance creation. Soulé frequently moves inside, meaning Roma are not dependent only on wide attacks. Their movement can force Inter’s back three to defend both horizontal and vertical spaces.

Roma’s squad situation has also improved. Ndicka is back in full team training, Wesley has returned to full work, and Hermoso has a good chance of being available. That gives Gasperini more confidence to push Molina and Wesley higher, knowing that the defensive structure behind them is stronger.

For Inter, Stones being unavailable reduces defensive rotation, while Spence’s absence also removes depth on the outside. Inter are still a strong defensive team in terms of individual quality, but against an opponent that has scored 12 goals in four matches, the reduced options matter.

The expected Roma front line of Soulé, Dybala and Malen is particularly interesting. Soulé and Dybala can drop between the lines, while Malen attacks depth. Molina and Wesley provide width. If Inter defend narrowly, Roma can use the wingbacks; if they stretch wider, Dybala and Soulé can operate in the half-spaces.

Inter’s own attacking strength through Lautaro and Thuram can actually help the Roma team-goals angle. If Inter score, Roma will not simply sit back at home. Even at 1-1, they will continue attacking. Considering Inter’s recent open matches, that can create another phase of chances and transitions.

Motivation is maximum on both sides. Both teams have 12 points, so this is a direct battle at the top. With an international break following, there is little reason for either coach to rotate heavily. Roma should not approach this as a survival match against Inter; Gasperini’s system is built to impose pressure and attack.

Davide Massa is the referee, with Mazzoleni on VAR. Massa averaged close to 4.9 cards per match in the 2025/26 Serie A season. In a high-intensity match, that can also create dangerous set-piece situations. With Dybala and Soulé, Roma have enough technical quality to turn fouls around the penalty area into real scoring opportunities.

The weather should not restrict the game. Around 26–28°C, mostly clear conditions and light wind are expected, with no significant rain. These are good conditions for quick attacking football and aggressive pressing.
