For Como vs RB Leipzig in the Champions League opener, my preferred pick is Under 3.5 Total Goals @ 1.68. This is Como’s first European cup match, immediately at Champions League level, in a packed and emotionally intense Stadio Giuseppe Sinigaglia. That does not point to a reckless, wide-open match for me. Fàbregas has not spoken like a coach who only wants to celebrate the occasion; he wants personality, hunger and a serious attempt to win the game.

Leipzig are stronger on paper, but the gap is not as big as the name value suggests. Como are around €385–438m in squad value, while Leipzig are around €548–550m. That gives Leipzig an edge, but it is not a massive top-club vs small-club mismatch. Como’s squad is already Champions League compatible, especially with Nico Paz, Baturina, Diao, Yan Couto and Kean/Douvikas.

The main reason for the pick is that both teams have reasons to manage the match carefully. Como want to play with the ball, not just survive, but it makes no sense for them to turn this into an open running contest against Leipzig. The Diao–Nico Paz–Baturina trio is creative and quick, while Kean or Douvikas give different striker profiles, but in a first Champions League night, structure and discipline matter as much as attacking expression.

For Leipzig, Demichelis arrives looking for three points, but the 1-3 defeat in Bremen and several key absences change the picture. Baumgartner’s hamstring injury removes creativity and second-wave runs. Reitz being out reduces midfield dynamism and aggression. Rômulo’s knee injury takes away a natural finisher and target profile. Gruda’s question mark can also limit Leipzig’s creative variation.

That is important for the Under 3.5 angle. Leipzig still have dangerous transition players in Nusa, Bakayoko and Nkunku, but with these absences, the central connection and finishing presence are less ideal. Against a strong but incomplete Leipzig side, Como can slow the match down for longer spells, keep possession and avoid the game becoming an early 2-2 or 3-1 type of shootout.

For Como, the major positive is squad availability. According to the UEFA picture, there are no major absences or doubtful players.
