This feels like a completely unnecessary matchup. Justin Gaethje is a physically worn-out fighter at this stage, while Ilia Topuria is at his absolute peak in every area. Topuria is a class-level boxer in MMA, he has class-level grappling, and his wrestling is also above average.

On paper, Gaethje’s main weapons would be his leg kicks and uppercuts. Against Topuria, however, those tools are unlikely to work.
