Pick: Both Teams to Score — No OR Under 2.5 Goals @ 1.48

I expect Arsenal to have more possession and take the initiative, but I would not assume that will automatically produce plenty of goals. The hosts have defended well so far, while Leeds have started the season conceding very few. For me, this matchup leaves room for either an Arsenal clean-sheet result or a tighter, low-scoring contest.

The strongest reason behind my selection is the quality of the chances Arsenal have allowed. Their total expected goals conceded, or xGA, stands at just 4.0, the lowest figure in the supplied league statistics. That suggests opponents have had relatively few dangerous opportunities. An average of 0.8 goals conceded per match and three clean sheets fit that picture.

Leeds average 3.6 shots on target per match, ranking 16th for that measure. That alone does not mean they will fail to score here, but against Arsenal’s defensive record, I expect the visitors to have to work hard for their openings. Possession figures also support that expectation: Arsenal average 59.3%, compared with Leeds’ 44.8%.

Daniel James is unavailable with a back injury, leaving Leeds with one fewer wide option. Bahoya and Harry Wilson were still uncertain according to the club’s 8 October update. Their availability could matter when Farke looks to change or freshen up his attack.

Leeds’ defending also deserves consideration. They have conceded just 0.6 goals per match and kept two clean sheets. However, their total xGA of 6.5 suggests the chances they have allowed could have produced more goals against them. I respect their early results, but would not assume they can contain Arsenal just as successfully.

Arsenal have averaged 1.6 goals per match and missed eight of their 12 big chances. Their finishing could improve, so I would not base the selection simply on those misses. Still, a match in which the hosts control proceedings while Leeds keep the score close for long periods is plausible. These early-season figures come from a small sample and provide useful pointers rather than a certain script.

The clearest concern is Leeds’ set-piece threat. They have scored three goals from those situations, while Arsenal have conceded twice. Leeds could therefore find a route to goal even if they create little from open play.

At 1.48, this is my selection. The bet wins if either team fails to score or the match finishes with no more than two goals, meaning both 1–1 and 3–0 are winning outcomes. My main expectation is that Arsenal can limit Leeds’ opportunities; if the visitors do score, a tight, low-scoring result remains another possible route.
